It was with great pleasure that I was asked to curate the Lincoln150 exhibit, which is being shown in the M&T Bank building downtown between Chippewa and Huron Sts. The Association for the Buffalo Presidential Center is hosting the exhibit highlighting the collection of Bren Price, a board member who has an extensive Lincoln collection.
The exhibit follows the course of Lincoln visits to Buffalo, NY, from pre-presidential, to inaugural, to funeral procession. Buffalo had a mock procession for the murdered president on April 19, 1865 and then learned later that day that the body would be lying in state on April 27, 1865. As many as 100,000 people turned out to view his body which was in state at St. James Hall, the northeast corner of where the M&T Bank Headquarters is now located - Eagle and Washington Sts. It was a pleasure putting together this exhibit, and it is showing until June 30. It is free and open to the public from 7am - 7pm in the M&T Bank building between Chippewa and Huron Sts. I look forward to working with the Association for the Buffalo Presidential Center again!
